Matt Kelson Photography promises to deliver documentary style and fine art images for modern couples seeking natural and candid images. I have been travelling the globe for over 15 years being paid to capture moments, whether that be small moments that slip by unnoticed during the excitement of the day, as well as photographing those magical key moments. Every wedding is different but every wedding has the same high energy, love and anticipation throughout the day. I live for capturing these moments and emotions that make your wedding unforgettable.

Meet Matt Kelson

I am a big guy with a very large heart to match. I am based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia and when I'm not shooting weddings, you will find me in the surf or at the dog park with my beautiful dog Kala, who is a Rottweiler.

My love of travel has taken me all over the world countless times, and I've been fortunate enough to work for companies such as Ripcurl, Tracks magazine, Australian Surfing Life, and many more, shooting the best surfers on the planet.

I am a documentary/portrait photographer which means that I don't do a whole lot of posing or directing on your wedding day. Pretty much every client says that they hardly saw me on their most special day; for a big guy I blend in and capture moments as they naturally unfold. I bring with me to each wedding the biggest smile, calmness and the fluidity of style that has allowed me to shoot many high profile clients in Australia and abroad.

Think of me like an old friend, enjoying the day/night right there beside you.

My husband Ben and I got married in Balmoral Beach. We wanted really natural, beautiful photographs that would capture us in the moment on our special day.

Matt was amazing from the beginning to end, we felt comfortable and had fun in the process. We were blessed with stunning weather on our day but Matt's creativity and timing captured how amazing it really was.

I am positive I will love our beautiful, natural photos for as long as I live and would strongly recommend Matt to anyone looking for a wedding or event photographer.

Merette and Ben

Our Wedding day was by far the best, happiest day of our lives. Thank you Matt for travelling all the way to the Southern Highlands and committing and entire day to making sure our day was perfectly captured from beginning to end.

Some photographers just capture moments but you perfectly captured the emotions and feelings of every part of our day. Every time we look at your photos we re-live how amazing the day really was. Your professionalism, energy, creativity and laid back approach really made us feel relaxed and comfortable. I would highly recommend you to anyone.

Matt was the perfect photographer to capture our wedding day. He is talented and creative with an incredible eye. His calm, professional and friendly demeanour put even the most camera-shy of people at ease on the day.

We were totally guided by you in regards to our photography and love how our photos naturally tell a story, as you seemed to capture all of the feelings and emotions throughout the day.

Judging light, surroundings and understanding our wishes for the day, Matt took amazing photographs which we will cherish forever!

Mick Fanning & Dolla

This is one of my favourite images I've taken. It was the morning after the Billabong Jeffreys Bay contest in South Africa and we took young Dolla to a safari park nearby. Through Mick's generosity and love for others, he has supported Dolla's family financially and helped them have a better quality of life living in extreme poverty in Jeffreys Bay.

Dolla sees Mick as some sort of god, not because he is one of the best surfers in the world, but as someone who genuinely cares about his welfare. This moment is where Dolla is reaching out to touch Mick's face as though to see if he is real. I know Mick holds this image close to his heart and calls it one of his favourite images he has collected in his journey around the world...
